IRS audits 10% of Tea Party donors

When the IRS was targeting conservative groups seeking tax exempt status for special scrutiny, they demanded the list of donors supporting those groups in 17 cases. Despite assurances from the agency that the lists had been destroyed, a search requested by Congress revealed that at least 3 lists had survived. And of the donors on those lists, fully 10% of the individuals had been audited.

The rate of audits for ordinary Americans is about 1%.

Now, the House Ways and Means Oversight Committee is demanding that the Government AccoIRS intimidation on a whole other level.untability Office investigate the IRS to see why so many Tea Party donors were audited.

Washington Times:

“The committee uncovered new information indicating that after groups provided the information to the IRS, nearly one in 10 donors were subject to audit,” Rep. Charles W. Boustany Jr., Louisiana Republican and chairman of the Ways and Means Committee’s oversight panel, told IRS Commissioner John Koskinen at a hearing Wednesday.

“The abuse of discretion and audit selection must be identified and stopped,” he said.

In your opinion, why do you think they withheld the total number of people in the 3 groups and their demographic and economic information?

I will say that I want an investigation. I will say this doesn't look right and we need to get to the bottom of it. But I am not going to say that I know for sure that they were audited at an unjust rate.

There is some manipulative reason why the exact information is slow to come out. I just don't want us to look like idiots with egg on our faces in a couple weeks after we have been ranting and raving about a tyranny that may not be real. Obviously, Democrat_media has no qualms about looking like an idiot.

With many political questions there are things that can be objectively proven and things that can't. If something cannot be objectively proven you need to argue your case so that more people will believe your opinion rather than the opposite opinion. In instances where something CAN be objectively proven you only need to argue in favor of full disclosure and the truth will eventually reveal itself.

Is Obama destroying America? - This question is not possible to objectively prove. That is why we who believe that he is destroying America must argue the best that we can to prove that he is.

Were these Tea Party people unfairly targeted? - This question CAN be objectively proven. All we need is to see the data. There is no reason to go making a case for why we believe this or that. Just look at the data when it comes out and we will be able to tell. At this point, all of the data is not out. We should be screaming from the rooftops to ensure that it does come out but we should be making any hasty proclamations before that time.

Because it wasn’t material, that’s why they didn’t spill a heavy tome about it.
