This is so BS. There is so much money in the road funds that they are working off of the interest being accrued. In fact I have heard repeatedly that CA pulls money out of the gas taxes to pay for many special interest projects that are suppose to be paid for out of the general funds.

[Art.] State transit officials note that there's not nearly enough money available to fix the many bridges and roads in California that are in desperate need of repair. A federal highway fund, based on taxes on fuel, is expected to run dry this summer.

All the States are doing this, and so is the Congress, robbing out the road funds for vote-buying, ribbon-cutting goodies.

No discussion of any measure like this without a complete audit of federal and state road and maintenance funds, gas taxes, and appropriations.

Anyone tries to slide one through at 2 a.m. -- hang him!
