The Department of Defense (DOD) paid $150 per gallon for alternative jet fuel made from algae, more than 64 times the current market price for standard carbon-based fuels, according to a report released on Wednesday.
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) noted in its report that a Pentagon official reported paying about $150 per gallon for 1,500 gallons of alternative jet fuel derived from algal oil.
GAOs report examined the financial challenges facing increased purchases and use of alternative jet fuels by federal agencies. Currently, the price for alternative jet fuels exceeds that of conventional jet fuel, the report noted.
The price for conventional jet fuel is currently $2.88 per gallon. GAOs report reveals that federal agencies have paid significantly higher prices in an effort to promote biofuels in commercial and military aviation.

If these idiots had to pay the fuel out of their own pockets, they would be more careful how they spend the money.

The question needs to be asked, who is getting money from these companies? What is the connection between those who set up this scam and the owners of the companies?

I’m actually familiar with one of the truckers that hauled this stuff from the midwest to Langley AFB, VA. He had an armed escort follow him the whole way.

Going to need to recalculate the exact cost of those Obama flights.

Yep, cut troop strength, closed the commissaries, cut housing allowance, all to pay super-duper premium prices for jet and ship fuel that is “green.” And how much do you want to bet that it is Obama’s environmental loving rich buddies who are making that fuel he is having the military buy?

Jet A at $2.88 must be "Contract Fuel", the special rate the government gets. Back in the mid to late '70's, Contract Jet-A was about $0.17/gallon, IIRC.

Over $22K for this green jet fuel which would last a few minutes in an aircraft with afterburner. Just wow.
