The USIP....I like the sound of that.
We already have it - it’s called the Tea Party.
The UKIP does not have one member of the UK Parliament.
Okay!
The UKIP has been around for 20 years and to date has done very little.
The Tea Party very quickly pried the House from the grip of the Democrats.
Kaus is dead wrong here. Ted Cruz more than 'cuts it', and is an outstanding spokesman for true American Conservatives.
The problem with the Tea Party, is that they are trying to work within the Republican Party, whose reputation is so damaged now that even most people on the Right despise it, beyond the point of the party being salvageable.
There needs to be a clean break.
ABC did such a hatchet job on Cruz. Nazis.
It's coming after the primaries IMHO. The event triggering the break will be the "grand bargain" coming on immigration reform.
The Tea Party isn’t really an organization as much as it is a state of mind, a set of core beliefs.
I think that is why we keep reading about it being passé and even dead.
Its potential power and impact cannot be measured by the same metrics as a formal political party. There are no membership lists, no registration lists at the county Electins Board, no Tea Party slate on the ballot.
Not yet anyway.
So true. IF he runs and wins Nigel Farage would be the first MP from UKIP.
The Tea Party needs to take over the GOP completely.
Then again, when they do get their own MPs, they won’t be under the corrupting thumb of the Tories.
Agreed. The GOP 2016 convention will probably start the rout.
The GOP is the slow road to hell, but the destination is still hell.
They operate in a Parliamentary system. They have to either join a coalition, or be in permanent opposition and never grow because they cannot execute on their initiatives.
The Tea Party is better served by becoming indispensable to the GOP.
I completely disagree.
The tea party reps and senators overwhelmingly get bought off and corrupted by the GOPe once they’re there.
I don’t expect to Farage and crew selling out in the same way.
Precisely !
The GOP wastes no opportunity to tell us that they don't want us around. Indispensable? Hardly.
Until the ones who don't cooperate get finished off in primaries. Then, like magic, the rest will start cooperating.
I don’t see that happening within the framework of the current Republican Party. I see obstructionism, I see active efforts to purge the party of its base, and I see a need to break away. Obviously your mileage varies.
