ANOTHER MH370 SHOCKER! New mystery revealed in plane's CARGO LIST

A new mystery has emerged in Flight MH370's disappearance with the Malaysia Airlines saying the lithium ion batteries carried in the plane weighed over 200 kg, even as the cargo manifest released recently listed the "consolidated" consignment at 2.453 tonnes.

"About two tonnes, equivalent to 2,453 kg of cargo was declared as consolidated under one master airway bill. This master AWB actually comprised five house AWB. Of these five AWB, two contained lithium ion batteries amounting to a total tonnage volume of 221 kg. The balance three house AWB, amounting to 2,232 kg, were declared as radio accessories and chargers," the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) said in a statement last night.

But this has not been disclosed before and is not stated in the cargo manifest, the Star reported.

According to Malaysian company NNR Global Logistics the batteries formed only a small part of a "consolidated" shipment weighing 2.453 tonnes.

Even though the MAS said the batteries weighed 221 kg, a company spokesman said they weighed less than 200kg. He, however, did not say what the remaining 2.253 tonnes of cargo was.

Yes...But I like the one posted the other day, where after being hijacked, a passenger hid his cell phone in his buttocks, sent out a message saying he thought he’d been drugged, and was being held by terrorist in some hut...

So you're saying that this is a documented case of butt dialing?

Decoding the manifest’s page 5:

DGD = “Dangerous Goods”
STC = “Said to Contain”
DIMS = “Dimensions”
CM = “Centimeters”
PMC = Aluminum freight pallet, see below

Note that the tracking results state “200 pieces” with a gross weight of “2453.00”.

Summary of the Air Way Bill (for what it’s worth, since these details seem lacking in all reports):

A Consolidated PMC pallet ‘Said To Contain’ (STC) by Malaysia Airlines (MH) 133 ‘Packages’ (PKGS), and ‘LOOSE’ 67 ‘Packages’ (PKGS) with ‘Dimensions’ (DIMS) in ‘Centimeters’ (CM) of:
60 x 26 x 22 (58 pieces) and 42 x 36 x 19 (8 pieces)

If you do the math on the 67 pieces, the average weight ‘per’ is in the 6-7 kilogram range. We all know the average weight of cell phone Lithium Ion batteries these days, plus the fact that since the Air Way Bill stated “SHIPPER DECLARATION FOR DGD NOT REQUIRED” (again, DGD = Dangerous Goods) and “LITHIUM ION BATTERIES IN COMPLIANCE WITH SECT II OF P.I. 965”.

P.I. 965 Section II States:
“Lithium metal or lithium alloy cells and batteries offered for transport must meet the General Requirements of this packing
instruction and:
1. for cells, the lithium content is not more than 1 g; and
2. for batteries, the aggregate lithium content is not more than 2 g;”

If you quantify that with the amp-hours designated for ‘dangerous goods’ and that those numbers don’t apply to this shipment (again, if properly labeled), those are NOT cell phone batteries, or any other type of Li-ion ‘Cell’ of any type I’m aware of.
So whatever was in these boxes, they were NOT required to be declared dangerous (assuming they were labeled properly, of course).

So, without regard to the ‘mysterious cargo’ and just the batteries alone…from the Air Waybill, the point-of-origin for the AWB shipment was Penang International.

There is ONE Lithium Ion Battery manufacturer in Penang:

So, I haven’t established a concrete connection, but Centurion appears to be a component of Laird Technologies. As Laird’s website states:

“In addition to the handset market, Centurion supplies a full range of antenna and battery solutions for two-way radios, in-building wireless networks, telematics applications and wireless devices such as industrial portable terminals and consumer grade WLAN access points.”

They do list Lithium Ion batteries as part of their product line

Does all this matter? Hell, I don’t know. I just couldn’t stand looking at a Manifest with unidentified acronyms and identifiers. However, I still cannot identify the designation “5871” after the pallet identifier “PMC”. It may very well be an inventory code for “MH” handling for calculating ‘gross weight’ for both balanced loading and for freight charges. Who knows.

I think it’s incumbent upon the Malaysians to specifically identify this mysterious cargo for which they’re on record as stating,
“Even though the MAS said the batteries weighed 221 kg, a company spokesman said they weighed less than 200kg. He, however, did not say what the remaining 2.253 tonnes of cargo was.
“I cannot reveal more because of the ongoing investigations. We have been told by our legal advisers not to talk about it,” he was quoted as saying by the daily.
He said he could not name the company which manufactured the batteries.”
