I made a mistake, if I remember correctly. The Etrangers made a pact that they could keep their weapons and be escorted out of the area, safely. The wetback Col. said “Let the devils go.” We all laugh about the French, but do not disparage the Legion. I met many in Viet Nam and heard of their history. A few guys I sort of knew, joined the Legion after Democrats let the SV down. I joined up with DeBeers and a couple of other outfits, because I didn’t want to enlist in ANYTHING for six more years.
