It’s something she says she will hold on to forever.

A victim of the April 27 Arkansas tornado had the moment to send one final text to his mother before the deadly storm claimed his life.

“First he said mama, I’m so scared,” Regina Wood, Jeffrey Hunter’s mom, told KFTA-TV. ”He knew how bad it was, these say it’s going to be a direct hit.”

All she could do was comfort him and tell him everything would be okay. It wouldn’t.

Some how that is a reminder that we can’t get out or receive too often.
Perspective can be gained and lost in such a short period of time.
I’m as guilty as anyone.

How sad for her. She did her best to comfort him at the end. The mom should take her own photograph of that text, because eventually, perhaps very soon her sons account will be deactivated. The text may or may not remain visible. Cell phones are still new enough to not always have written policies on what is to happen with the account online should the owner die unexpectedly.

Take the TN storms seriously. Two people were killed in Lincoln County, TN in the latest bunch of storms; many other casualties in other southern states in the same storms. Lincoln County has real bad storms from time to time resulting in deaths. This idea the news media is pushing that there’s a “safe place” in most any house during a storm is just that - somebody’s idea. If a tornado hits a house, only a pile of splinters is left. Dig yourself a storm cellar; even a cheap earthen one is a haven during a tornado. We once took refuge in a small earthen storm house dug out in the side of a hill and covered with a wooden door.

I think the account goes to the next of kin.

I have a 3000 sq ft basement including some wings that are literally rock sided with concrete roof

Pretty safe unless an F5 parks on it

My land is on a rise in a valley with 6-800 foot sharp gradient

But I have seen exceptions....I think where Kenny Chesney is from in east TN is a more distinct valley but still got hit

Worst outbreak I ever saw was Camille....she spun tornados everywhere

Spring 1971 miss delta outbreak which destroyed Inverness Miss was bad

The tornado belt has moved north maybe 150 miles since my youth in the south

England is most funnel cloud spot in the world but they are smallish and much less destructive
