Dumb question: The attack happened at an “annex”. Was there a US embassy in Libya at the time, and were there Marines stationed there?
If so, how long would it have taken them to prepare for combat and travel to the annex?

Clarifying terms. The initial attack took place at a location serving as a Consulate. The "annex" you refer to was the "CIA Annex" several blocks away where the CIA was engaged in conducting activities we have not yet been made aware of.
US Marines protect Embassies, but not Consulates. The U.S. Embassy in Libya is at Tripoli, about 400 miles away from Benghazi. The Security Staff at the Tripoli Embassy was retained in place by the Acting Head of Mission (in the Ambassador's absence) due to fears that they might also be attacked.
There is an embassy/consulate in Tripoli. Marines were on the ground at that location. It is only 400 air miles from Tripoli to Benghazzi.
The major U.S. naval air station of the Mediterranean, Sigonella, in Sicily, is very close by. Anyone who tries to claim help was far away is either grossly ignorant or hopes the listeners and readers are. All that command needed was the order “Yes, go.”

Another Question?
Over eighteen months have passed and still no capture has been made on those terrorists involved in the Benghazi massacre. Why? We have no leadership in the White House. Obama is a national disgrace.
We went after Ben Laden but not these ass holes. Again, Why?
