With all due respect Mrs. Don-O , if you go back and read the full beginning of the thread as a fellow named Dreher whom is identified by responding Freepers as a bit of an iconoclast..if that.
I have nothing against Christians, I do not care for reactionaries as this author appears to be.
But, you make your own call.

Thank you for a cordial and rational response. It's always a pleasure to share perspectives with a person who writes with good will.

Rod Dreher, whom I have been reading regularly for years and was "friended" (and never "unfriended") to me decades back, is the exact, literal, accurate opposite of an iconoclast.

He is an iconodule.

I mean in both the precise religious sense and in the wider social and political sense (although, understand, he is more a cultural than a political writer.)

I am not exactly with him on denominational lines (since I am Catholic and he is Orthodox), but I would reckon he is more conservative than at least 60-65% of the Republican Party --- with gusts of up to 80 --- and if that makes a person a reactionary, I will join him under that banner in a heartbeat.
