What the Left is going after here is to shut off the supply of drugs that can be used to carry out executions.

First they convinced big pharma companies that had always sold states the drugs to refuse to supply them for this purpose.

Then they started going after compounding pharmacies and small players who were providing them. The goal is to scare any potential source away from providing these drugs for execution.

If and when they succeed, the death penalty will be finished as practical matter, because they’ll be no way to carry it out.

Unless they want to return to firing squads and electric chairs. Frankly I doubt they have the guts.

I doubt they have the guts either but the firing squad and hangman’s noose are not unconstitutional. Frankly I wouldn’t be surprised to see the death penalty get caught up in a major backlash by normal America against the heavy hand of government and its favored special interest groups. From eminent domain to federal ownership of land to unbalanced environmental regulations to gun grabbers to social justice and affirmative action to punishing the producers, there may actually come a point where the critical mass is reached when revolution becomes possible. In that case, I could see the death penalty revisited and reinstated by the simplest means possible.
