Oscar De la Hoya and Floyd Mayweather want to buy LA Clippers

Oscar de la Hoya and Floyd Mayweather have revealed they are interested in buying the LA Clippers after current owner Donald Sterling was fined £1.5m and banned for life by the NBA for making racist comments.

Sterling was caught on tape telling his girlfriend he did not want her to bring black friends to Clippers games - prompting protests from his own players and condemnation from President Barack Obama.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said: "The views expressed by Mr Sterling are deeply offensive and harmful. That they came from an NBA owner only heightens the damage and my personal outrage.

"We stand together in condemning Mr Sterling's views. They simply have no place in the NBA.

"This league is far bigger than any one owner, any one coach and any one player."

De la Hoya said: "The league has made it known that it wants more minorities involved, and as a proud Mexican-American, I will bring a different perspective to the NBA in general, and the Clippers in particular.

"I was born and raised in Los Angeles, I know what it takes to run a successful sports entity and nothing would make me happier than to bring an NBA Championship home to Southern California sports fans.

“The league has made it known that it wants more minorities involved...” Does that include Christian conservative men apply? ... I thought so.

This is a Fait Accompli for Magic Johnson. BTW, I read the NBA By-Laws and Constitution. There is nothing in Article 13 that allows the Board of Governors to vote Sterling out for talking to his girlfriend.

Who DOESN’T want to buy the Clippers?

I don’t get it....a team that really nobody cares about, even in LA...all they have is bandwagon fans because the Lakers stink right now.

RE: Who DOESN’T want to buy the Clippers?

Even if I had the money, I WOULDN’T. There’s better uses for my $750 Million ( if I had it ).
