Donald Sterling is set to make up to $780 million if he's forced to sell the LA Clippers by the NBA's Board of Governors.
All NBA team owners issued statements yesterday saying they want him out of the league, but could face a still legal battle since Sterling made clear he has no intention of selling.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver banned Sterling from the league for life Tuesday, and hit him with a $2.5million fine, after the billionaire was heard making racist statements in recently released audio recordings.
Silver also called on the Board of Governors to push the 80-year-old to sell the Clippers, but that 'punishment' may end up being the best financial move Sterling's ever made.

The big question: is what Sterling did something he can be disciplined for or disciplined to the extent the league desires? I can see (although I'm not a lawyer) a number of legal problems with trying to take the business away from someone on account of what that person said in a private conversation.
The NBA's problem is that they knew Sterling was a crud when he bought the team and did nasty stuff in the interim. Why didn't they discipline him then? And furthermore, what are the repercussions of destroying an owner for words he said in private? Then I guess every owner is open to having their team taken for what they may have said or done in private. One NBA owner is for old style marriage between a man and a woman. Can Jason Collins, through the league, have his team taken away? You better believe the lefties want to do something like that.
I seriously wanted to pick up a gun and shoot whites. The only way to resolve matters is by bloodshed.

Whew! I’m glad the NBA doesn’t tolerate bigots.
Sterling should sell it to one of Putin’s Ukrainian oligarch buddies. They could cough up a billion without breaking a sweat and turn the Russian mafia loose on Silver. Silver will be grabbing his ankles and from his looks, he’ll probably enjoy it.
I predict........
Someone will DEMAND that he sell the team for what he paid for it. Someone like that does not deserve to make a profit.
That’ll never happen. Sounds like a bidding war is in the offing.
Sterling is like a savant who’s one freaky talent is making gobs of money.
I thought I heard somewhere that one of the NBA teams IS owned by a Russian oligarch.

Sterling has the right to tell him to TAKE A HIKE if that ridiculous ( an understatement ) offer were made, and racist or not, I’d support Sterling.
They want to STEAL his property from him after he spent 30 years building it up.

Yep, Mikhail Phokorov of Russia owns 80% stake in the Brooklyn Nets.
He also acquired a 45% interest in the new Barclays Center sports and entertainment arena.
To prove he’s really not racist, he has to sell the team for pennies on the dollar to a minority. You know like Oprah.
Me too. 100 percent. Why does he need the aggravation? He has done well. 81 years old, he should retire anyway.
