Those are the words that will put this guy in prison. The resident was not in danger, nor was he in fear for his life. He planned to kill someone.

Last time I checked, that was a crime. Firing blindly into a room without even giving him a chance seals the deal.

Any person who plans to defend their home against felon intruders does so precisely becuase they fear the risk to their life; any rational person wants to minimize that risk, hence the planning.

Do you think they are still not afraid as they execute the plan, no matter how many times they execute it? I have disarmed criminals with guns and knives, after practicing these moves thousands of times and I was still afraid when I did it for real. Because I appeared perfectly calm and controlled, if I had killed them, am I now a criminal?

Why does he need to give the intruder a chance, per your comment? Do I have to give them the first shot to make it fair, in your eyes?
