Superhero comics and movies always seem to have that unspoken stigma attached to them. Hard not to. Crazy outfits, super powers, hidden identities and the fear of their discovery... If they were also anything but straight, the genre probably would not have gained enough acceptance to be a part of the mainstream of culture. It would just be too dang weird.

I recall an issue of Spider-Man (from JMS’s run, IIRC) where Aunt May found out his secret. While they were talking about it, she mentioned that she’d always had a feeling he was hiding something important, and was always awkward around girls....
