Former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal is under fire for mocking a disabled fan’s selfie.
The retired athlete posted a picture on Instagram of his own contorted face next to Jahmel Binion’s selfie.
FOX 2 reports the post, captioned “Smile today,” earned more than 14,000 likes, with former University of Michigan athlete Trey Burke and rapper Waka Flocka Flame joining in on the teasing.

With missing teeth and abnormal hair growth caused by the rare disorder ectodermal dysplasia, the Michigan man is used to getting bullied — but Shaq’s mockery was too much to bear.
He considered Shaq his basketball idol and respected the former high-profile athlete’s charitable works and advocacy for disadvantaged children in America.
“I’ve been getting teased since I was yay (sic) tall. People laugh at me, stare at me,” Binion said. “I was kind of hurt because I’ve always looked up to him. I’ve watched Shaq play basketball since I was (inaudible), so I was like, why are you making fun of me? He is supposed to be this role model.”
Despite the abuse, Binion has a positive outlook. He said the cruel taunts have inspired him to start an anti-bullying campaign called Hug Don’t Judge.

Yup. I had some respect for the guy but he’s just another fraud.

I like shaq but what he did is about the same thing that the nba owner did. We deal with special needs people all the time. What he did was harsh and needless.
The young Mr. Binion is taking it all in stride. He’s a classy young man and Shaq ought to be ashamed of himself.

The person he dissed on IS black..and the other idiots who mocked this young man are also black..so black on black bullying..nothing will come of it, they will just say “Aww Shaq was just being his immature self” now, if Shaq were a Republican, CNN would take time off from looking in a black hole for a plane to report on this non stop

I’m sorry the guy has his feelings hurt but non-disabled people get their feelings hurt every day too. If you aren’t black, brown or disabled, no one pays any attention and you get over it already.
What I would tell my kid is that the guy has no class, forgive him, pray for him and get on with your life.
Getting revenge may seem sweet at the time but it will ruin you along with the hatred you accumulate from your grievances.
Nothing to worry about; you can only get banned from the NBA for life if you use the “n” word.
You can mock the disabled or, heck, commit murder, treason and armed robbery and you’ll only get fined.

Exactly.
It isn’t everyday that someone posting a selfie is physically handicapped or sensitive about their deformity. Shaq probably also have thought the picture was a joke or just a guy making faces before realizing there was a disability involved.
