26K+ per engine would put it in F-15 territory, only with less weight and a tighter turn radius. Whoa.

Not an engine tech guy, but the Super Hornet has alway impressed me.

First time I was eating lunch down at the east end of the Pt Mugu runway and a Super came taxiing down for takeoff, it had my attention.

Pulled onto the runway, went to full military power, and just plain squirted down the runway and into the air. Amazing acceleration w/o afterburner. Can only imagine what AB would have done.>

I spent my late teens watching F-4 Phantoms take off clean and heavily loaded. Even clean, the Phantom was a slug in afterburner until in the air.

The Super Hornet is so far beyond the original Hornet, should have been a new name.

Damn, I read the numbers wrong. For a moment, I thought the F-14 Tomcat was going to make a comeback. No such luck, especially with Obozo in charge.
