No harm done and no need for apologies. There were a lot of rumors floating around and a lot of anger.
There are many ostentatious social climbers in that area. People who grow up around there and have deep roots may be patient with them, but it gets old because it’s always the same story: they move into a new house with their new trailer and new horses and new truck and new Downton Abbey clothes and say how much they love the history and tradition, love country life—and then they want to change everything to be more like the suburbs they left. Then they’re surprised when people don’t accept them. Please, you Nouveau Snobbes, stay in suburbia where you belong.
