It’s going south of us.
Brandon was hit so bad they’ve blocked the police scanner.
Thank you so much!
There’s a little ‘tornado alley’ that runs about 5m south of our house from SW to NE. Invariably storms that form in this county head along that line. Bears watching always but once it’s in that sort of ‘track’ it’s usually there or close to it.
What’s bad is the Jackson medical center (UMC) sent traige/emergency units to the Louisville tornado site and now they’ve got apparently significant injuries local to Jackson.
Whew. Glad you’re OK.
Oh my goodness.
State of emergency declared for Alabama by the Guv.
Brandon MS is under a curfew tonight.
Debris ball on radar east of Jasper AL right now.
TORNADO WARNING- Chattanooga TN.
Just wow.
I didn’t realize there’d been another really big tornado that went through Columbus. I’m not sure if it was the Louisville tornado(s) that regenerated, just moved that way or what. Supposedly it had multiple vortices just like the Louisville tornado. The TIV got close to it but didn’t intercept.
Have a tornado just south of here.
Wow. That’s a hoss. Just listened to EMS on the scanner and they are prepared for another bad day tomorrow.
From the Birmingham NWS Office:
THE THREAT TOMORROW LOOKS VERY SIMILAR TO TODAY. MODELS HAVE BEEN
MORE PROGRESSIVE WITH THE LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS AND HAVE
PUSHED IT THROUGH THE FORECAST AREA NEAR DAYBREAK TOMORROW. IF
THIS WERE TO HAPPEN...WE COULD SEE SOME BREAKS IN THE CLOUDS
TOMORROW AS ANOTHER SHORTWAVE TROUGH ROTATES THROUGH THE BROAD
UPPER LEVEL LOW. SBCAPE VALUES ONCE AGAIN PUSH UP TO 2000-3000
J/KG WITH AN INCREASE IN THE LOW LEVEL JET DUE TO THE INCOMING
SHORTWAVE TROUGH. THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP WITH THE DIVERGENT
FLOW ALOFT AND EXTREME INSTABILITY. SEVERE STORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE
ONCE AGAIN WITH TORNADOES...DAMAGING WINDS...LARGE HAIL AND
FLOODING POSSIBLE ONCE AGAIN. THERE ARE STILL SOME UNCERTAINTIES
BECAUSE THE THREATS ARE CONDITIONAL ON HOW THE SYSTEM EVOLVES
TONIGHT. REGARDLESS...THESE TWO THREATS SHOULD BE TAKEN VERY
SERIOUSLY...WE HAVE NOT HAD AN EVENT LIKE THIS IN CENTRAL ALABAMA
IN SOMETIME.
They do when they more or less create a “rain shadow” and break up systems coming over them. Our weather comes from the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico here. Snow doesn’t make it over, all snowed out on the western slopes before it gets here. Tornadic weather in the Ohio Valley doesn’t get here. Tennessee weather seldom has that much effect. We get tornadoes but if they’re getting here from the west they’re coming up in front of the Blue Ridge from Georgia and South Carolina, so it’s more south-southwest.
Thanks for the heads-up!
Showing a little of that infamous sickly green.
Possibly 6-7 dead in Limestone County.
Another warning for Birmingham, this time including DOWNTOWN.
