It was the best vacation of mylife.
Just hitting all the major parks out west.
I’m gonna talk to some of the guys in my bible study group and see if they wanna go trip like this it just sounds too fun to pass up.
I highly recommend Kanab, UT as a place to "headquarter" for a few days. Kanab's a two hour drive from several national parks (Zion, Bryce Canyon, North Rim of the Grand Canyon). We stayed at Parry Lodge, where movie stars stayed when they were filming movies in the area. Reasonable prices, friendly people, the place is kept in immaculate condition.
I think we spent about $85 per night, and they show free movies at night. My son enjoyed the place as much as I did.
Last year's vacation was awesome, a two week road trip with my (then) 11 YO son. Spent a couple of days in Mexican Hat (Monument Valley, Goosenecks SP), followed by Kanab. The highlight was our day of canyoneering outside Zion NP, which included 5 rappels of 40-90 feet.
Other stops included Sedona, Tombstone, and Roswell.
