I personally do not see it as an error. Perhaps he didnt intend it as it turned out, but he was still correct regardless. And yup, we gotta back the play to the hilt.

Yeah, I agree. I think the gist of his comments was right on the money. However I do think that in the tactical sense, according to the rules of public conversation established by the New York Times, they were counterproductive. But I don’t think the ultimate solution is to conform to those rules but rather to smash them, and in think you do that by 1) being smart, and 2) being willful. I think conservatives have got the smart part down pretty well but need some shoring up in the willfulness department.
