I already banned my own. Wood fireplaces are holes to throw money into.

But a fireplace fire is pretty on occasion.

I highly recommend pellet stoves, though. A good one will save you 50% on your oil bill. That's been our experience.

We have a pellet stove and in California even those are under the ‘no burn days’. We use it all winter anyway. It puts out no visible smoke at all.

Depends on the neighborhood. In my hometown in northeast Queens, I can’t think of a house that does NOT have one.
