See, I added 4 to the 26 first and then subtracted 4 in the end. I think my way is faster.
That's interesting. I just added 26 + 17 and got 43, and it wasn't because the farmer in Iowa had to get his piggies to the capitalistic market by Thursday or his healthcare premiums would double...or something like that.

OK, So I was just joking.
You and I do this math in our head because we understand that numbers are abstract.
It’s as if CC math is trying to make them concrete.
Either because they think the teachers are stupid or they think their students are stupid.
Maybe both ?
