Texas senator Ted Cruz has endorsed Ben Sasse in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate in Nebraska. From the Sasse campaign announcement:
I have gotten to know Ben Sasse, and while Nebraskans have good choices, Ben is the strongest conservative voice running for United States Senate, said Sen. Cruz. Ben will not be just another vote in the Senate he will be a leader in the fight to stop the Obama agenda and repeal ObamaCare from day one. We need strong reinforcements like him in the United States Senate.
Sen. Cruz was elected in 2012, going from a virtual unknown to winning one of the most dramatic upsets for U.S. Senate in 2012.
There is no more zealous defender of the Constitution than Ted Cruz, said Sasse. Its an absolute honor to have the support of such a strong conservative leader in the fight against ObamaCare.
Cruz will join Sasse at a rally on Friday in North Platte, along with fellow senator Mike Lee and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin.
Sasse faces former state treasurer Shane Osborn in the GOP primary for Senate on May 13. Both are seeking the seat held by retiring Republican Mike Johanns.

Osborn totally stepped in it
The two agreed that this is what people hate about politics, and Osborn highlighted more of what differentiates him from his opponent before he remarked: One other plug: Tonight, Ive got Grover Norquist doing a town hall with me Im pretty excited to have Grover helping me out.
Youre close with Grover Norquist? Beck inquired.
Ive known him for years, Osborn said. I think Americans for Tax Reform does a lot to help the movement on simplification. We need a fairer, flatter tax code.
NO, I heard that interview and Osborne did not step in it.
Beck stepped in it.
Osborne, is a navy pilot who served as Nebraska’s state treasurer (2007-2011). He reduced spending 11% and trimmed staff by 21% and made the entire state budget transparent by putting it online. Since then his firm for finding vets jobs has increased from 4 workers to over 40.
And then Beck totally dismisses him just because he has had a long friendship with Grover Norquist. As I recall, Reagan was once a democrat and tossed a few beers with Tip O’Neill.
Hey, Glenn - there are no perfect candidates as pure as the Nebraska driven snow . And I’m tired of the name associations. Judge the man on his record.
Didn’t Glenn used to work for CNN? What a sleasy way to sleaze yourself up the ladder.
IMO, Norquist is a rabid anti-Semite. I’ve seen him in person, though, and he is amusing. So, I don’t blame Osborn for allying himself with him-—on this one issue. Not everyone knows the real Grover. Bob
Well, I don’t know the real Grover either. Never realized he was anti-Semite. I guess you know him fairly well.
If that is the case (him being anti-Semite ) why is that you don’t blame Osborn for allying himself with him?
I just got upset with Beck, because after a decent interview where Osborn came off as accomplished and competent and conservative ( my primary qualifications ), Beck just dished and totally dismissed him because of that connection with Grover. Apparently that Grover association didn’t stop him from doing a good job in Nebraska.
I heard it as well. I would be perfectly happy with Osborn, but I prefer Sasse. I thought that Shane was a bit duplicitous when it came to him categorizing Ben’s positions. About Grover, all I know is that when the subject is Israel, Grover always sides with those who hate them. Bob
I got you . Kind of like Pat Buchanan. I like Buchanan. He’s a smart guy and knows his history, but I cringe when he always seems to align himself against Israel.
Yes, and I too like much of what Pat says. Blessings, Bob
