Steyer would benefit from cheaper fossil fuels delivered by the XL Pipeline if he has an interest in producing “Green” fuels, such as Ethanol.

The EPA has just publicly admitted that Ethanol damages internal combustion engines due to the excess heat generated by burning Ethanol.

If the EPA’s Ethanol is produced from Corn, then how many gallons of Diesel or Gasoline does it take to produce one gallon of Ethanol?

* Note: Prep. to plant, planting Corn, weeding, fertilizing, harvesting, transporting, the actual production of Ethanol, and final transportation to customer friendly filling stations all require combustion of fossil fuels.

It will be interesting to see how our tax dollars are being used by the Feds to subsidize the production of Ethanol which the Federal EPA documents causes damage to the engines we buy from partially nationalized, Federally regulated automobile manufacturers.

Factoid for the Day: Corn is “Green” and renewable, whereas Tax Dollars are green, but not renewable.

None are so blind, as those who would not see.

The world is going to be dependent on hydrocarbon “fossil” fuels for at least the next century, and considering all the newer ways being devised to extract this store of energy, there is little or no chance of “running out”, as the “peak production” point keeps retreating with the evolving technology, and may very well be a total myth.

On the floor of the ocean, is a vast storehouse of Methane Hydrate, equal to perhaps from four to as much as ten times the energy content of ALL the known terrestrial and underground sources of petroleum, coal, and natural gas that are now recoverable with present-day technology. There are some 168 times the volume of natural gas, at normal atmospheric pressure, in one volume of Methane Hydrate, so it is a very compact source. Unfortunately, it is also unstable at temperatures above about 42 degrees Fahrenheit, going through a phase change back into water and methane.

Methane Hydrate naturally regenerates, formed by the decomposition of organic matter in the sea, and from vents of natural gas that open upon the sea bed. Of slightly greater density than surrounding sea water, it gravitates to the sea floor, where the temperature does not rise above 38 degrees Fahrenheit.

Add to this the abiotic generation of hydrocarbons, and the scientifically shaky theory of “Peak Petroleum” has even less foundation.

Carbon dioxide from the burning of hydrocarbon fuel is NOT a pollutant. No matter what the ruling from some scientifically illiterate judicial “authority” may claim.
