While maybe not the political gaffe of the year, Sen. Mark Pryors (D-AR) remark that his Republican challenger's military service gives him a sense of entitlement is certainly up there. Hence why Rep. Tom Cotton (R-AR) -- who is indeed running to unseat Sen. Pryor -- is now actively campaigning off his opponents verbal missteps.
If for no other reason, this spot is effective because (as Matt Lewis also notes) it reminds voters that Pryor actually said that. And thats important to emphasize. Ive never served in the armed services, of course, but Im fairly certain one does not return from foreign battlefields feeling entitled; on the contrary, I imagine wearing the nations uniform is a deeply humbling and at times terrifying experience. Thus, accusing a combat veteran who just so happens to be your political opponent of having an empty resume -- especially when your own political career was almost certainly aided by family connections -- is hardly a resounding line of attack.
The more Arkansans that see this ad, the better:
video at link ...
LOL!
That’s perfect!
Why conservative candidates don’t REGULARLY mock ratlibs for their commie-ness and lies frustrates the heck outta me.
I LOVE IT when it happens!
VERY effective.
OMG What an awesome ad!
Love it!
I’d pick Cotton if I could!
I love it too. Should play well in Arkansas. I’d be a bit surprised if it played as well in states like Cal though wherein the numbers of anti military commie types is probably overwhelming.
Great ad
I went through Army BCT in February ‘69 at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
Senior Drill Sergeant William Avery would have taken that creampuff posing as a Drill Sergeant and made him feel like he was under the tutelage of Gunnery Sergeant Hartman.
(But seriously - I’m sure they softened him up for the video. At least I *hope* they did.)
Good ad
I just donated to his campaign You can help pick him if you would donate also.
Went through Leonard Wood in '66 and our Chaplain was tougher than that guy.
I think I met that Chaplain.
I remember the words “Square yourselves away and quit snivelling” or something pretty close.
(Great way to end the Sunday Service.)
Thanks for the link, it is a great ad and if it is well circulated, Cotton cannot lose this race.
Cotton's problem is the political ads are too well circulated.
Its not just Cotton's ad, but also Koch Brothers/Americans for Prosperity ads. They are continuous and annoying.
And the pushback ads show Cotton as being as being a Koch Brothers puppet.
The law of diminishing returns
Sen. Mark Pryor (D-AR) should SHUT HIS PIE HOLE.
He has never gotten mud on his boots, H***, he never wore boots.
That is great!
