On one tour we joined, smoke wafted out windows. Strangers shared pipes and exchanged samples of weed and wax, a concentrated form of marijuana. Canisters of buds bearing names like "tangerine haze" and "strawberry cough," were passed around to smell. Nutella pancakes came up in conversations at least three times.

“DUI arrests mean nothing except to antidrinking propot nuts like yourself.”

Who said I was anti-drinking? You are obviously anti-reading comprehension. Try again, but this time do so sober.

“There is no Right to drive so let’s drop that.”

I never inferred there was. In fact, my arguments are completely in line with the idea that driving is a privilege that is subject to licensing and revocation for bad driving.

Some idiot driving from the ‘burbs into the city for their job that cannot seem to keep their vehicle in control while driving drunk, stoned, on a cell phone, or swatting at their kids in the back seat (THAT just happened to my SIL), means they can lose that license to drive, move back to the city, and take the bus or walk to work. There is no right to drive badly and keep the license.

“Wouldn’t EVER see such supportive writing if it were a mother smoking a cigarette around her kid. “

Or holding a beer bottle. It is amazing how society accepts one thing but not another.

Mmm hmm.

Show me the people in prison for merely smoking a joint.

The talking points are evidence of your own “drinking hysteria”.

You support A drug war, whether you acknowledge it or not.

“Show me the people in prison for merely smoking a joint.”

Are you claiming there are none?

Also, your reading comprehension is severely lacking if you think I am against alcohol.

Every one of these thread there are the “drunk driving” trolls. Define “drunk”. The government is pushing for ZERO tolerance (0.03/0.01 BAC).

And dopers get into wrecks too. The CNN article even mentions the stoners being too stoned to get off of the shuttle bus (to avoid DUI charges).

Demonizing alcohol and tobacco does nothing to legitimize the use of pot but I see the arguments on every pro-pot thread.

Thx for the bad news. And weird photo. People’s brains will soon resemble this hybrid plant. Scary.

A way to inebriate the population into not caring what goes on and who is doing it

I have a hard time getting this cynical, but golly gee, I think you're right.

Veto!, surely there are some number of marijuana-influenced drivers on the road right now, and have been for decades, even before the first retail pot stores open (of course, the medical MJ outlets have been open for some time)…. Do you think we will ever see a marijuana festival in eastern WA? Public consumption still won't be legal and they tend to enforce that kind of law over here.

I spent a year in South Florida five years ago. WE may have a few dopers in cars here, but there? More than half, probably, in certain locations at certain times of day, drifting back and forth across freeway lanes. One guy made a u-turn right in front of my while puffing on his joint. I'd like to think you're right about enforcement up here. We shall see.

What I don’t get is where is it legal to smoke it in public? Doesn’t CO have laws against that?

You’re going to say that people in the 30’s were saying if alcohol was re-legalized that it would be the same as now with pot and be a slippery slope to other drugs. You need to really support that or give it up. You made that claim and if you can’t back it up, then you’re not a good debater and should be ignored.

“I can name more than a dozen that are airline pilots, write safety critical software, politicians, cops (LOTS of cops!), bus drivers, etc. It is amazing how many people smoke pot on occasion.”

Half of the jobs you listed are either directly or partially tied to the gubmint, so they are on gubmint dole. And they would not be missed if they are “not working”... we would be better off.

Just read a story in WSJ today that because none of the Colo pot biz can be transacted in the banking system, huge amounts of cash are laying around.
A group of former military have started a security service that’s booming.

Aren’t airline pilots tested for drug use?

I know you can’t hold a commercial driver’s license (on road trucking) without being drug tested fairly frequently.

A local garbage collection outfit pays good money but can’t find enough young guys to drive because they can’t hold a CDL.
