Bush versus Clinton 2016: would a battle of the dynasties really be un-American?
The Telegraph ^ | 19 Apr 2014 | Matt Lewis

Could the 2016 presidential election turn into a contest between a Bush and a Clinton? Political debate in America last week revolved around whether or not Jeb Bush, Florida's former governor who is son or brother to two former US presidents – both named George – would jump into the 2016 battle for the Republican presidential nomination.

For a nation that fought a war for independence from the hereditary power of the British Crown, in the person of another fellow named George, the concept of nominating a third Bush to run for the White House against a second Clinton (the former First Lady, Hillary Clinton, who is the assumed Democratic nominee) might sound absurd.

And not just to an outsider. "If we can't find more than two or three families to run for high office," Jeb Bush's mother Barbara said in January. "That's silly."

Silliness aside, Mrs Bush's words haven't stopped the speculation from swirling. Just last week, the New York Times reported that Andy Card, who was chief of staff to former President George W Bush, said "Republicans should draft Jeb", adding: "If Jeb Bush doesn't run for president, shame on us."

The rush to crown another Bush as the Republican nominee speaks to a few things. First, it is an apparent sign of desperation, which is to be expected when any political party considers the looming possibility of losing a third consecutive presidential election – a real prospect for Republicans just now.

Kate Bush vs. George Clinton would be pretty funkadelic!

Otherwise, no.

We out here are DONE with establishment weakling candidates...with good tea party ones available. I am sickened with the same old bs that loses us elections against steadfast communists. Sad thing is that so many Republicans have become morally compromised themselves, so they have a hard time going for a very strong candidate. Hopefully, there are enough clear thinking ones left!

If I heard Jeb might receive a cabinet post I would be less inclined to vote.

The primary purpose of any election is to defeat the worst candidate.
I can tell that you do not agree.
I know that you have company.
The result is Obama.

Thankfully, you’d have better luck juggling chainsaws than seeing conservatives vote for another Bush.

Did someone pay off Republican election insiders to get another one on the ticket?

Why else would we be seeing an endless line of articles regarding Bush running for president?

We’ve heard this “The perfect is the enemy of the good” and all the other rationalizations for mediocre GOP establishment candidates in 2008 and 2012.
They got us McCain and Romney. We don’t have to settle this time for another warmed-over GOP-e hack like Jeb. There are good candidates like Cruz and Pence, to name just two.

I am done with defeating the worst candidate. We are way past that.

My thinking is that unless there is a conservative candidate I am going to vote for Hitlary. IMO we are better off initiating a civil war while the military is still on our side, i.e., soon. If we boil the frog much longer there will be no war - we will just be marched into the camps.

Is that a risky strategy? Yes. But less risky than electing another big government, globalist, Bush who will take us down exactly the same path - and slow enough that far too many will just go along.

Well, there’s never a problem when the dynasty is named Kennedy, is there? I won’t mention Cuomo.

Sorry I am NOT voting for Bush 45 or Clinton 45. I am going to vote for Cruz, Paul, Walker, Mike Lee, Pence or Ryan...
