Right, and in theory, that land should be the property of “We the People”, of course, it is not that simple however, the US Govt. should be more of stewards of the land.

Shouldn't it be "We the People of the United States" who own the land? Not "We the People of Nevada"? I have no problem with the land being sold to the states or the people in them. In fact with unimproved land like that not being used for a national park or military or some similar purpose, states should be allowed to do sort of a reverse eminent domain and purchase it from the federal government at fair market value and the government should be forced to prove in court there was a valid reason for not selling.
