I don’t understand why California is so different on this from my state, WA. Here we are full of pediatric dental clinics and they all accept Medicaid. A great majority of their patients are Medicaid. One even has a full dental surgery practice. Alternatively you can always just take the Medicaid kids to a non-covered dentist, which you can’t do in the medical realm.
Part of that is because the legacy SCHIP program covered kids at relatively high income levels. I do have friends with kids on Medicaid in the north part of the state and they have to travel down to Everett to take one kid to the orthodontist.
My insurance - that my agent got for me, not through the frickin gvt website, is in Washington. It’s about $70 less/month for some reason. I had to go to the dermatologist so far and I didn’t even have a co-pay. Can’t figure that one out.
Not sure how I ended up being better off ....knock on wood...
Maybe it is because the medical providers with any sense are deserting California first. I’m sure ObaMao will solve the problem by allowing the importation of third world health care providers. < / sarcasm >
Can someone facing this problem - no local dentists on assigned plan - pay out of pocket for care to a dentist nearby?
