soccer is all work and so little action it becomes boring

it’s as if in a game of basketball 98% of the game was chasing each other back and forth across the court and 2% of the time someone got within range of making a basket and less than 1/2 of 1% of the time did a basket get made

booooooooooooooring

for me golf is even NOT as boring as soccer

Well, I'm in the minority; I enjoy the World Cup. The USA men's team looks pretty good this time around (so do a lot of other teams, I'm realistic on our chances.)

Even more than the men's, I enjoy the women's world cup (next one will be hosted by Canada next year.) The U.S. ladies have an excellent record, having twice won the cup).

While I never had any interest in “football”, as known around the world, an older friend asked if I would fly him to Mexico for the 1970 World Cup. I decided it might be interesting and fun, and we could do a little side traveling.
I admit, it was interesting, being in what I think was the world’s largest stadium at the time, for the final two games, and seeing the famous Pele play and win it for Brazil. The side trips by rented car added to the fun.

I will probably watch bits and pieces unless there are 100,000 vuvuzela blowing fans in the stadium.

Soccer has always been the prissy euro sport. Even more gay than cross country and badminton.

When I was a kid, no one was interested. So it’s gained a following. I love it. Great soccer. It’s a hell of a lot better than the Olympics.

"The World Cup? Isn't that a yacht race or something that rich guys from software companies take part in?"

Well, let’s see….they have most of the immigrants attention. That’s about it. That 1/3 business is probably way too optimistic.

Just as long as they don’t have all those stupid horns in the stadiums again.
