There are two things I never want to see in my backyard...a bear or an alligator. Looks like Florida residents deal with both.

As crazy as things get here...I think I’ll just stay put!

“She walked to the patio area where there were five bears eating trash that they had pulled out of the garage, her husband said.”

Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb thing to do. Did she think they were tame or something?

There was an article in “Outdoor Life” a few years ago about bear attacks. Black bears kill more people than any other type and it is not even close.

Part of the reason is they are more closely located to large human populations and the other is people don’t realize just how deadly they can be.

I'm wondering how much disney she had to watch on how to act around and towards bears.

People like her feed the bears or put their garbage out so the bears can get into it and then they wonder why they have a bear problem. I was raised in the mountains around black bears and have never, not even one time, had a problem with a wild black bear.

Garbage bears are always going to be a problem and must be destroyed.

Animal problems are almost always the results of stupid people. For these bears it is too late. Either now or later they will have to be killed.

There was a show set in Florida called “Gentle Ben” and I think that was a black bear. Dennis Weaver I believe was in the show as well.

I don’t know what kind of bear it was but Ripley’s Believe it or not, the old feature in newspapers, not the TV show reported a woman once outran a bear, throwing clothes off which the bear at each little turn would stop and smell. At least that’s what Ripley’s Believe it not wrote.

For the heck of it, UDAP bear spray can be an interesting website to read: http://udap.com/

Are there no leash laws in Florida? Were the bears wearing no collars?

Regards,

This story yes, is a negative towards bears but about 9 months there was that bear in Pa. who had a jar stuck around his head and these people freed it.

Just yesterday here, seems there was a story on a Florida Panther that attacked someone or something like that.

Most bears only want that welfare check and wait at the end of the month for the mailman.

This is not possible. Probably every animal show I’ve watched about black bears and wolves insisted they are harmless to humans and livestock.

Isn’t it racist to mention the bears’ color?

On the local Panama City news, I am looking at a Black Bear right now. It is in a large tree and appears to be a large one. They are estimating it’s weight at 300 lbs.

The fish and wildlife people just got on scene with a tranquilizer gun. It is in Springfield which is a suburb of Panama City.
