The left’s disdain for ordinary Americans has deep historical roots.

"The liberal disdain for ordinary Americans has been around for a long time. Beneath the populist rhetoric and concern for the middle class that lace the campaign speeches of most liberal politicians, there lurks a palpable disgust, and often contempt, for the denizens of “flyover country,” that land of God, guns, religion, and traditional beliefs."

the “ugly blend of sanctimony, self-interest, and social-connections” lying at the heart of liberalism today . . . [the] “hundreds who are wise” empowered to guide the “thousands” who are “selfish, ignorant, timid, stubborn, or foolish.”

Did someone just mention the 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus radical, psycho spoiled brats who were celebrated in the establishment MSM as the most intelligent generation ever! They are now arguably that very establishment that praised them and they hold themselves and their ideological issue in even higher regard.

I remember them.

“My staff tells me not to say this, but I’m going to say it anyway. In the summer because of the heat and high humidity, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol. It may be descriptive but it’s true.”

—Senator Harry Reid, December 2008

The left is every bit as dogmatic and oppressive as they claim Christians are.

They know what is best for you because they believe they are more intelligent, more refined, and more advanced than the average citizen. If they have to put you in a cage, or kill you to make you understand, they have no problem with doing it.

Just bought the book based in VDH’s recommendation. Have only read the introduction and part of the first chapter but my impression is that it’s going to be a really good read.

The liberal elite’s disdain for a middle America of businessmen and churchgoers, which has always been linked to an uncritical admiration for Europe, has with Obama’s reelection created a political order teetering on the edge of fiscal collapse: “[Liberalism’s] sustained assault on the private-sector middle class and the ideals of self-restraint and self-government have, particularly in the blue states, succeeded all too well in achieving the dream of the 1920s literary Bolsheviks: an increasingly Europeanized class structure for America.”

Great find NYAmerican....

The upper hierarchy of the left consists of pseudo intellectuals who think that they know best what is good for the peons. They give the false impression that they only want to helllp them, when in fact, they only want to make them their pawns.

I think it started in the 1900’s. One of the goals of compulsory schooling was to get children away from their parents and their teaching.

Elitism is the bane of republican self-government.

Which is why the great conflicts of today are not liberal vs conservative or Democrat vs Republican or North vs South but:

o The GOP Establishment vs Conservatives
o The Boston-Washington axis and the Left Coast vs "Flyover country".
o Washington vs The Rest Of Us
