I don't know how I forgot it, but I also learned to swim at the old KC JCCC, and swam there year round. They had an indoor pool, and an incredible outdoor pool during the summers.

I am finding some solace that the posts I made early on were at least accurate.

To others on the thread:
For those who don’t know, Aurora, MO is a small old town outside of Springfield, MO. Also nearby are Branson, Silver Dollar City and Table Rock Lake straddling the MO-Arkansas border.

Sleepy little berg, hometown to my best friend’s mother and parents. Visited a few times.

Like many places in southern rural Missouri has its share of loners and outcasts of which this guy was a noted example. He was supposedly at the riverboat Casino’s in KC (at least that was what he told his wife) and KC is about 3 hours and 20 minutes away from his home.

He apparently went to the big city to get his front page glory — typical Democrat — the KKK was founded to fight Republican efforts after the war and bring back strength to the Democrats.

Now understand, the KKK was a joke in Missouri. They had a few adherents in little bergs. Northmore, Aurora (apparently), Norborne. and little towns but most of Missouri and Kansas would call a cop and say there are nut cases over here if they saw a “meeting.”
