Wow. My mom wears their stuff.
I used to order from their catalogs, and I think that I returned everything I ever ordered, except jewelry. The fit was never right, even though the clothes were cute.
I thought that they were in trouble when they closed their Seattle store. I cannot believe that Loehman’s filed for bankruptcy, though. I used to shp there in Lansdale, Pa back in the early seventies, before they went national.
One of my favorite pairs of jeans ever came from Coldwater Creek.
I knew they were in trouble because I am on their e-mail list and every day there is some sort of big special sale going on. They can’t get enough people to get in there and buy, I guess.
It’s a shame, but I don’t have any buying power to change it, and neither does anybody else I know. We are all squeezed.
I like their clothes, and since I’m a grandmother, maybe they are geared to older women.
We have a store near us—I’ll check to see if they have a closing sale.
I’ll miss them.
My wife has a whole closet full of Coldwater Creek...of course, she only pays a buck or two for new outfits (still with tags) at the local thrift store. It pays to be on the main drag between filthy rich SE Massachusetts and their summer covens on the lakes in central Red Hampshire. Jaded (and wealthy) democrat wives dump loads of major labels at this thrift store constantly. Lucky for my wife she is the only size six in the area. :-)
And that is a large part of their sales and marketing problem.
