Encourage away. They probably give you a polite reponse while they are thinking to themselves that some people should mind their own business.
I get it. Kids are great and all that. I raised one. Been there done that. If she asks me for advice on the subject I would advise against having kids. If I had a son I would offer to pay for the vasectomy if he wanted one. It was hard enough when mine was born. But now...? No way in hell would I take a conscious decision to have kids. Not in the current environment.
