The GOP will miss another grand opportunity to practice conservative populism. How many readymade issues must these dolts miss?The GOP is the tax collector for the welfare state. If they really wanted anything to change, they'd get rid of withholding entirely. Make the taxpayer write that monthly/quarterly/yearly check.

How about letting the corporate portion be listed as part of the employees pay, then deduct both portions. Let that simmer for a couple of years and then introduce the option to let younger employees keep their portion to invest.
