I like to mention Obama's czar and fetters.
Stretch said, We’re “disrespectful of the represents[sic] of the administration”.

I had that feeling from day one , and I felt it more strongly after the first time Gen McInerny commented! I think he is spot on, and this wild goose chase for a “ping” is for crap that was planted,

expanding medicaid but for whatever reason had not signed up for it.

Alabama an LBJ stronghold?
Damn Mark your ignorance about Dixie and your stereotypical narrative about old South is my only bitch with you
Alabama went for Goldwater in 1964
The only states that went Goldwater were southern and Arizona
Most of LBJ stronghold was north and west of deep south
....to be so smart obviously...
I have had a change of heart with Vlad. For years, I thought he was the evil man he is depicted as in literature.
That change began when I worked with a woman from Romania who showed me pictures of his castle and I mentioned Dracula. She told me about his hero status because he fought the Muzzies.
Over the years, I learned more on my own.
Turns out, he was held prisoner by the Turks and treated cruelly starting when he was young. Think Theon Greyjoy being captured by, instead of the Starks, but rather by the Boltons (for the Game of Thrones fans).
So, he learned cruelty at the hands of the people whom he hated.
He converted to Catholicism and took the throne of the area of Romania that his kingdom ruled. Based on what I understand, the king of this area was not a direct descendant of the previous king. Rather, it was required he be of royal lineage, but was appointed or voted on by the people. I am not sure of the voting thing as I only came across that once.
The cruelty thing is judged by today’s standards. He ruled during medieval times, when cruelty was a daily thing across Europe, but “Dracula” was written after the Renaissance, when people tried to distance themselves from the cruelty of the past. Think post WW2 Germany and Nazism...that is, the acknowledgement of the era but “We are better than that, now.”
If you want to see how cruel that time was, go to any restaurant that has jousting tournaments while you eat, and tour their “dungeon” museum to see all the things used to punish rebels.
On top of that, recognize that his rule was constantly in challenge by Turkish sympathizers as well as all kinds of people who sought to get rich at the suffering of his kingdom.
He did stay the hand of Islam for quite some time, though he lost it once when his army was greatly overwhelmed by the Turkish army.
RE: "Think post WW2 Germany and Nazism."
Like you I worked with people from the area and in fact I lived in Ankara for about a year.
I have great respect for the people of the secular Republic of Turkey founded in 1924. Turkey rejected Islamism and the Ottoman Empire about 100 years ago.
Yes Turkey's [Islamist AK Party's] Erdogan vows to 'liquidate' treachery at home and abroad. But if you visit the link you'll see that the citizens will not tolerate Islamism and sharia law as hundreds of thousands rally for Turkish secularism.
Thanks again!
