Satellite images which appear to show Russian warplanes, combat helicopters, armour, artillery near Ukraine's border have been released.

The organisation's top military commander in Europe, General Philip Breedlove said a probable airborne or special forces brigade deployement could also be spotted on the pictures as Russian armed forces maintained their presence the area's military bases.

Putin said these troops have no intention of invading. He said the troops who did invade Crimea were not his but local militia. His KGB ethics and training are still with him.

I’m really surprised with modern weapons and communications that troops “mass” for attack. That makes them sitting ducks. It’s outdated tactical thinking. It might not matter against the Ukraine, which likely can’t strike back. But it would be a mistake against almost anybody else.

Putin said the spetsnaz troops he sent to invade Crimea were just local militia too. He’s a former KGB Colonel of at least 16 years. Disinformation and military deception don’t seem likely to be beyond his moral values.
