As Minnesota's legislative auditor announced Wednesday a full evaluation of MNsure, state officials revealed plans to address a key question: Did the federal health law reduce the number of Minnesotans lacking coverage.
MNsure has asked University of Minnesota researchers to work with insurance companies and the state Department of Human Services to provide a preliminary estimate for the impact of the federal Affordable Care Act on the uninsured rate in Minnesota.
The most recent estimate suggests about 445,000 Minnesotans lacked coverage last year. Projections last year suggested the health law would reduce that number to between 159,000 and 201,000 by 2016.
While there has been anecdotal evidence of uninsured finding coverage through MNsure, there hasn't been an assessment.
"Everybody wants to know how many have signed up, and what impact will this have on the rate of the uninsured," said Lynn Blewett, a U health policy researcher who will lead the study.

How many have paid their first premium? How many are too sick to have had insurance? How many require HIV or Hepatitis C medicines that cost thousands of dollars a month?
ObamaCare will be the expressway to bankruptcy for many states.
All the while no one is concerned about the nearly 200 thousand in MN that lost insurance because of the ACA and MNsure. We boot 200K that had insurance they liked so we can cover less than that and call it a success?!!! A large contingent of the newly minted coverees are on the dole, not paying anything, or next to nothing, while everyone else sees their policy costs skyrocket to pay for it all.
Up is down, bad is good...
“Signed up” DOES NOT mean that you ‘have coverage’.
You had better check carefully.
WORDS MEAN THINGS!
Most new enrolls were already covered by Minncare.

As far back as 2008, at the presidential debate in Nashville, Democrat candidate Obama advanced his signature plan that was ultimately enacted (by an historic straight Democrat party-line vote) into the "Affordable Care Act :
OBAMA: "No. 1, let me just repeat, if youve got a health care plan that you like, you can keep it. All Im going to do is help you to lower the premiums on it. Youll still have choice of doctor.
Repeated over and over ---- with the promise that every American would be saving $2500.00 on healthcare costs.

Democrats happily marched in unison---exhibiting lock-stepping party loyalty not seen since 1940's-era Europe.

Quoting Sen. Al Franken (Dem-Minn): "people who are happy with their current plan, wouldn't need to change it."
YOUTUBE SOUND BITE Sen Franken assuring Minnesotans they could keep their current plans.

Will be interesting to watch when claims comes back denied for lack of coverage. Would hate to be working in a medical billing office.
I, Karnak the Magnificent (with apologies to Johnny Carson), will predict the results of this “audit:”
It will discover that, despite some initial “challenges” and trivial budget overruns, the exchange functioned as expected, and that millions of Minnesotans are now insured because of this visionary, far-reaching program that more than justifies its cost.
It will further be revealed that MNSure has cured male pattern baldness, put a man on Mars, and located the missing Malaysian airliner.
well, color me surprised...
