Teddy Ballgame gets my vote too. Heck he missed almost five years of prime playing time flying combat missions in WW II and Korea.

He was the best hitter but his wartime record does put him in a league of his own. Noone can argue that. Even Hank Aaron.

Ted did not fly any combat missions in WW2. Korea, yes.
