Now the dems are getting desperate to cover up Benghazi and IRS scandals if they have to have someone most Americans hold in high esteem to say something really stupid to diverate attention.

A political cartoon depicting the KKK and the Democratic Party as continuations of the Confederacy. In an 1868 newspaper interview, Forrest stated that the Klan's primary opposition was to the Loyal Leagues, Republican state governments, people like Tennessee governor Brownlow and other carpetbaggers and scalawags.[40][41] He argued that many southerners believed that blacks were voting for the Republican Party because they were being hoodwinked by the Loyal Leagues.[42] One Alabama newspaper editor declared "The League is nothing more than a nigger Ku Klux Klan.". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ku_Klux_Klan

“This sort of rhetoric serves the purpose of exacerbating national divisions, creating divisions where previously there was unity, and utterly destroying this Great Republic.”

Isn’t that what I just said...?

I’m saying they’re doing it on purpose. I’m saying that their exacerbation and creation of social division is a deliberate, thought-out, intentionally chosen policy not an accident. I’m saying that national destruction is their conscious goal.

If that’s what you just said, then “yes” ...

The left has been putting out this exact line for decades. Nothing new, except it’s a celebrity like Hank Aaron. Basically, a ho hum.

Affirmative Action HR ‘champ’. As he aged, the Braves kept moving in the left field fence so he could break the record. He didn’t even come close to Ruth’s HRs/ABs record.

He was the best hitter but his wartime record does put him in a league of his own. Noone can argue that. Even Hank Aaron.

50 Hank Aaron, Harry Belafonte, Jesse Jackson, et al, are going to find that the constant waving of the race card is becoming like the boy who cried wolf.

Ecclesiastes 1:9-11 (NIV, © 2011) 9 What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. 10 Is there anything of which one can say, “Look! This is something new”? It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time. 11 No one remembers the former generations, and even those yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow them.

I followed the Braves in HS and college during the 60's and early 70's and was a fan of Hank Aaron. He was a native of Mobile, AL. I remember his stories about receiving death threats as he neared breaking Babe Ruth's HR record. I can't imagine what that must have been like. I imagine it would be hard for most people to forget or forgive. That being said, it is sad to see him consumed with bitterness towards whites.

This sort of rhetorical excess has been growing enormously in the past few years; it serves no useful purpose and merely exacerbates the national divisions which are tearing apart the nation.

Eloquently stated, and the goofballs who believe this stuff wouldn’t understand half the words you used.

I grew up near Balto. and was 8 when the Orioles won the Series. Brooks was my idol as a player. I met him a couple of times and he was just as amazing in person. Same with Johnny Unitas. Those were the days.

Hank Aaron is listed on the Braves website as a senior vp. Feel free to call the Braves 404-522-7630 and ask if this is what ownership and the organization believes. I did and left a number. Haven’t heard back.

Ownership used to be Ted Turner. It’s CEO is now Terry McGuirk.

No. I have heard him speak on this subject for decades. He just continues to marginalize himself and his contribution to Major League Baseball with these outbursts of hate speech.
