Rev. Roy Harriger appeared in court Monday where both sides argued motions. Harrigers attorneys want to review the grand jurys minutes.
Orleans County District Attorney Joseph Cardone said, What makes it a little more unique is we allege that the incidents that are charged in the indictment occurred some years ago and since the time of those crimes the language and the statute has changed and so council has questioned whether you use the older language or the newer language as it stands.
Harriger is currently free on bail. At least 15 people have signed affidavits saying the pastor molested them. Hes due back in court on April 21.
The details of the plea deal offered to Harriger were not released by the DA.

How old are these offences?
Don’t Tell Me!Is It What’s Behind”Door Number 3”??????????
At least 15 people in three states have signed affidavits claiming 70-year-old Harriger molested them as children. But many of those cases are past the statute of limitations. However, a grand jury recently found enough evidence to indict Harriger on charges relating to three children.

Article says more than ten years. If it were two decades they would likely say so, so fairly recent as these things go.
What I would like to know is if there was anyone the kids or their parents told at the time who covered it up.
Sigh ...
If only pastors were allowed to marry.
Oh! Wait! He is married!
Never mind.
Yes, he appears to be married. In the article linked in post 4, he’s accused of incest, among other things. No details, but probably his own child or children, I would guess.
A plea deal? This wretch don’t deserve a plea deal. Let him rot in prison.
If they only let these Catholic priests marry!
Huh? He was a married protestant?
Never mind.
Child molesters should be offed
Move him, oh wait he is a protestant, so he’ll get tried, like he should be.
This guy has a great future career as a priest.
edit: And if he can steal from caskets, he can be el papa.
A plea deal? This wretch dont deserve a plea deal. Let him rot in prison.

That often means the case is weak. Not so much doubtful, as very difficult to bring home.
On older offenses it seems fairly obvious that you’d have to use the language of the law as it was at the time. Otherwise you risk running afoul of the Constitution with an ex post facto law.
