Not really. Russia acts as bully as long as we let her. Any show of strength and resolve would make them run and hide. As delusional and suicidal Russians can be, they realize that there is no winning against superior force. Their weapons are mostly junk, and they know that.

“Any show of strength and resolve would make them run and hide.”

Already too late for that.

And while the West is technologically superior, is there really a will to use it in Ukraine? I don’t see it.

The Ukrainians have to stand up for themselves first, and other than the Northwest radicals, we haven’t seen any real signs that they are willing to do so.

“The Communist guy” is actually the Chief of Ukrainian Communist Party.
As for the rest of your opus - you are just looking for dirt on Ukraine and Ukrainians. You could save time and effort by turning on Russia Today or another Kremlin trumpet - they do just that for you and yours. Heil Putin, comrade!

You are correct that Ukrainians need to stand up for themselves first to count on any significant help from the West. On the other hand, letting Russia continue the Reconquista clearly endangers world peace.
We’ll wait and see...

Oh, no - Russians coming?!
I think my neck is as safe as yours, thanks for your concern. And it will be if we start recognizing the danger of this dying dinosaur, instead of trumpeting it’s brutishness as some kind of a Conservative beacon.

Why? Let the 60 Million dead Russians speak for themselves.

Crimea was an area where the Russian majority was the majority. Nowhere else in the Ukraine is that true.

So do you think Putin has outlawed abortion? And if not, why not? Keep in mind he’s as absolute an autocrat.

They’ve a few elite units, but many are draftees who won’t want to fight and die to make Putin and his oligarch supporters even richer.

If Vladimir Putin were cruel, he would long ago have cut off Russia’s gas supply lines to Ukraine, which also lead to Europe, and waited for both Ukraine and Europe to abjectly surrender to him.

However, all Putin has done so far is double the price of gas to Ukraine, allowing the Ukrainians to at least try to mount a defense against a potential Russian invasion.

And what has the West done? The Europeans have adamantly refused to make themselves energy independent, allowing their environmentalists to set Europe’s rules such as No Fracking Allowed. And the U.S. has helped create Russia’s current energy tyranny over Europe by allowing its own environmentalist to set OUR rules, such as not permitting exports of natural gas to Europe.

So who is being cruel? European and American politicians by bowing to their environmental lobbies for their own selfish political interests? Or Vladimir Putin for being made an energy tyrant thanks to Western governments’ malfeasance in not making their countries energy independent?

The point being they won both battles. All that dead still didn't stop them did it?

So we just need to ignore hostile, totalitarian regimes and they will go away?

Cool. Does that work for national debt and loss of civil rights too?

Have you read my comment you are replying to? Where did I imply or write to ignore the beast? The hostile totalitarian regime, I would add aggressive and obnoxious, of Russia needs to be at least kept on the leash, if not destroyed.

Huns won more battles with less casualties. Hail Attila?
The point is that we can’t continually appease the monster and expect it to become humbled by our meekness. Our military strength was built to stop them - now is the time.

Actually, I misread your #40. You did not suggest ignoring them. My mistake and my apology.
