The current fear among the Tories is a 3rd place finish in the EU elections that are upcoming -- UKIP will clip out a big win here, and I doubt that Labour will finish ahead of the Liberal Democrats, so the Tory revolt could push the Conservatives into fourth (UKIP, LD, Labour, Tories).
