IMO, they're all tied to what's known as the LIBOR scandal, where banks played patty-cake with each other on a global scale by manipulating market values and interest rates.

Coincidentally, (wink, wink) this was going on about the time most of the federal government's banking 'stimulus' package was going overseas.
