Easy enough for Firefox users to change their user-agent strings to impersonate another browser. Firefox isn't a commercial product for home users - it's not like a boycott will hurt sales. I think it'd be more effective to stay a user and let Mozilla know that a large contingent of users aren't happy with the decision to force Eich out.
That said, Mozilla's decision to meddle in private political choices is a disgrace. California voter initiative laws need to be changed to prevent disclosure of donations under, say, $5000 to prevent this kind of gangsterism. And if Mozilla has an ounce of collective integrity, it will re-instate Eich and apologize for punishing a private citizen over his private political views.
If they want to force him out for creating Javascript, that's another story.

Free Republic could block users using Firefox. FF users need only spoof the User-Agent header to masquerade as something else. There are extensions available that do that for all sites or only configured sites.
For instance, you could configure your Firefox spoofer to report itself as Chrome whenever talking to *.statcounter.com. That would affect charts like this one:
Bragging rights matter in the world of open source software.

Free Republic could block users using Firefox. And IE users because Microsoft execs were big supporters of the Wash St. gay marriage iniative.
And Safari because Apple is run by a gay guy
And Chrome because Eric Schmidt, Sergei Brin, and Larry Page are huge contributors to gay "causes"

Why would they do that? Shouldn't such an alleged boycot be up to the user?
