Mozilla CEO resignation raises free-speech issues
Associated Press ^ | Apr 4, 2014 8:23 PM EDT | Martha Mendoza

The resignation of Mozilla’s CEO amid outrage that he supported an anti-gay marriage campaign is prompting concerns about how Silicon Valley’s strongly liberal culture might quash the very openness that is at the region’s foundation. […]

“There was no interest in creating an Internet lynch mob,” OkCupid co-founder Sam Yagun, whose dating service site was among those engaged in online protest, said Friday. “I am opposed to that with every bone in my body.”

But Eich’s abrupt departure has stirred the debate over the fairness of forcing out a highly-qualified technology executive over his personal views and a single campaign contribution six years ago. And it raises questions about how far corporate leaders are allowed to go in expressing their political views.

Some are also questioning whether the episode undercuts the well-groomed image of Silicon Valley as a marketplace of ideas and diversity of thought, and whether, in this case, the tech world surrendered to political correctness enforced through a public shaming on social media. …

When will companies require all new employees to state their position on gay marriage, and not hire those who are against it? (Or insufficiently in favor of it)

I think most Freepers are delusional about what’s going on.

Boycott Mozilla needs to become a movement. Leftist militancy needs to be met with equal resolve from the Right. Mozilla is only the current battleground, but the culture war is everywhere and unless we up our game dramatically, we will lose the country.

Loads of people have taken to Mozilla’s site, using the happy or sad face to show their position and then commenting. 99.5% of what I saw were negative. Check it out, if you haven’t. It’s pretty interesting. Most had comments saying they were removing Firefox from their computers and many had comments about being fed up due to free speech being protected only as long as it comes from the LGBT community.

Whether it is the gay rights mafia or Reid railing on the floor of the Senate denigrating the Koch Brothers, it is nothing more than raw fascism at its ugliest on display. Liberals are constantly promoting class warfare on every level and subject.

History repeats itself:

The gatherings of the Sturmabteilung were often homosexual orgies. The evil that began there had consequences. We are living in a world today where the President of the US is a homosexual who has openly and radically transformed the nation.

actually the civil rights act of 1965 forbids such discrimination against someone or against refusing to hire someone because of their religious beliefs.

No one seems to think it pertains to an executive however, especially since he “resigned”.

We have lost “freedom of speech” and now the target is “freedom of thought.”

Smug self satisfaction with ones innate moral perfection isn’t ‘openess’.

Made worse because Eich’s donation was made back in 2008, long before there was any hint of his being elevated to CEO. Further, the info was only public because the IRS illegally leaked the National Organization of Marriage’s donor list (from their tax filings, and not required to be public, certainly not without their consent).

On top of that, Prop 8, the cause Eich intended his donation to support through NOM, was passed by a wide margin and was also (prior to 2012 anyway) wholeheartedly supported by Obama (as he noted in his 2008 campaign).

So not only is Eich’s dismissal persecution of the first water, it’s ex post facto since the position he took was “okay” with the left at the time.

Just where did anyone think this was going to lead to? You have these “INTOLLERANT” GAY, or better yet, SODOMITES, making the rules for all of us, and we stood by and did nothing about it. If you think this is bad, just wait a few more days, when these people really make the rules for everybody and how every body should behave. When are we, as a people, call their bluff and tell all of them to “PISS OFF”? The “GAY” population in this country is about 4% to 5%. And they are making the rules for the other 95%? Is this like the “TAIL” wagging the “DOG”?

But that's exactly what you did. And then gloated about it.

What are you going to do about it now?

Liar?

You much too nice.

Sam Yagun is lying sack of manure. His / company spokesthing according to the New Yorker exact words few days ago was . . .

"Those who seek to deny love and instead enforce misery, shame, and frustration are our enemies, and we wish them nothing but failure."

And thats when he/they knew things were going south

Politicians get to mess up as much as they like and $hit on the people like nobody’s business without fearing any reprisal, but heaven forbid a CEO offering a valuable service speak his mind on a single issue.
