It's like wrestling a manic, many-armed squid in ink-darkened water.

Great description by Peggy.

This is clearly Noonan’s best article of her career. I think that now she has really come awake. The writing is also great (like the squid image mentioned above).

If you haven’t done so, please read the whole article. I am planning to smuggle copies into my doctor’s office, to leave in the waiting room.

Great description by Peggy: O/Care's like wrestling a manic, many-armed squid in ink-darkened water.

The following stunning Noonan insight made me forget all the things I didn't like about her.

"Pelosi's urgings inspired Democrats, who for the next three years would carry on like blithering idiots making believe they'd read the bill and understood its implications. They were later taken aback by complaints from their constituents. "

The White House, on the other hand, seems to have understood what the bill would do, and lied in a way so specific it showed they knew exactly what to spin and how.

"Keep your plan" of course was the president, misrepresenting the facts of his signature legislative effort. Your existing policy had to pass muster with the administration, which would fight to the death to ensure that 60-year-old women have pediatric dental coverage.

The squid image is really a poor one because it implies noting can be done about MahdiCare. The better image is a hopelessly buggy hard drive. The solution’s simple: reformat the hard drive and start over. Here it’s the same: repeal the whole mess and start over.
