The Tower of David skyscraper boasts a helicopter landing pad, glorious views of the Avila mountain range, and large balconies for weekend barbecues. Yet a 45-storey skyscraper in the center of Venezuela's capital Caracas is no five-star hotel or swanky apartment block: it is a slum, probably the highest in the world.
Dubbed the "Tower of David", the building was intended to be a shining new financial center but was abandoned around 1994 after the death of its developer - banker and horse-breeder David Brillembourg - and the collapse of the financial sector. Squatters invaded the huge concrete skeleton in 2007....

Can someone post some pics of this building. Thanks.
Oh look, income equality.
creepy
Thanks. I should have thought of that. I was on my tablet when I posted. The link was not showing the pic. Think it used flash on the slideshow.
Hey,4A,no hanging laundry on the balcony!
You should check out the pics at Google. The apartments some of them have set up are elaborate. You have to wonder what kind of a hike it is up to the upper floors though.
An abandoned building with working utilities. I wonder who pays for it.
Well its not like they have to go up and down to get to work.
Really strange. Who’s providing the security? How does it have power? The corridors look clean...how can that be? There appear to be large decorative plants in the lobby...what kind of slum has those? A building like that should be total bedlam yet it seems somewhat orderly. I’m guessing the city must be running the building as some kind of de facto public housing project.
bumping this interesting article
What, aside from laziness and ignorance, prevents you from clicking the "news.yahoo.com " link (in the posted excerpt) -- that takes you the whole series of photos in the cited article? IOW, RTFA!!!
Or, what hinders you from making a search on an image search server?
Is that they way you respond to your FRiends when they ask a simple favor. And what does RTFA!!! mean? And IOW?
In answer to your questions, I went to the link and there were not pictures appearing because apparently it was a Flash animation screen show. My tablet does not do flash.
In further answer to your question, the FR experience is nicer when pics are dropped into the thread. I went and added a couple on this one of the building. It made people’s FR experience nicer, unlike the IAAHSB you seem to enjoy dropping.
I thought about that too. What is curious is that the pics show they have electricity. How did they manage that one?
"IOW" = "In Other Words"
FYI, (understand that old acronym?) I also frequently search up images and add them to threads. I agree: it's a good practice.
However, your immediate recourse to calling for help (second comment) did not indicate any effort on your own part to solve the problem.
I use "Click to Flash" to block unwanted flash intrusions. When it couldn't autorun Flash, the website defaulted to a nice, inline, HTML5 "<IMG>" display of the photos. If flash is a problem for you, you might benefit from giving "Click to Flash" a try...
Of course, as you noted, image search engines are a good recourse...
Peace, FRiend; displaying a little initiative (before asking for a handout) is good, conservative practice...
See, now if I had not asked the original question I would not have learned all that. html5 is my read tonight.
