San Antonio Police Deploy Taser Against Man Lawfully Carrying Firearm ~ Video(link)

San Antonio, TX --(Ammoland.com)- On March 31, 2014, a member of Open Carry Texas was exercising his right to self defense while on a walk near his home in San Antonio.

San Antonio Police Department officers from the West Substation responded to what they claim was an individual waving his rifle around and pointing it at people. Nothing could be further from the truth.

After approaching and recognizing that Henry Vichique wasn’t a threat and that the call was a hoax, officers still attempted to disarm a law-abiding citizen walking home from a friend’s house. As officers were about to let Henry go about his business, another officer arrived on scene and decided to elevate the tension by tazing our member. Henry was then arrested for having a loaded firearm within city limits, a local ordinance that directly violates state pre-emption laws pertaining to firearms as contained in Local Government Code 229.001(a)(1), which states: “a municipality may not adopt regulations relating to…the transfer, private ownership, keeping, transportation, licensing, or registration of firearms, air guns, ammunition, or firearm.”

Mr. Vichique was charged under San Antonio Ordinance Section 21-16, Carrying loaded rifle or shotgun. The ordinance reads, “It shall be unlawful for any person, other than duly authorized peace officers, to carry a loaded rifle or shotgun on any public street within the city or in a motor vehicle while the same is being operated on any public street within the city.” Open Carry Texas maintains, and has maintained since this issue was first brought to our attention last year, that this ordinance is unenforceable and void due to the Texas pre-emption laws as stated above.

It is probably coming. As it should. San Antonio has stuck its finger up at the Constitution one too many times.

what a bunch of donut-eating S.A.P.D. B.B.T. SoBs
sure gives a bad reputation, to the good ELOs serving...

"Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with.”― Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged, 1957

San Antonio is becoming more and more Mexico than Texas. And cops are out of control everywhere. They’re on power trips and most of them has no idea what’s in the constitution. In a lot of small towns they can’t even spell “constitution”.

Five or six years ago my oldest son and wife were visiting from out of town.

He had a new Taurus 9mm, so he and I took it along with a9mm Beretta and an M-1 carbine, out back to my makeshift range. We shot up a bunch of ammo.

Iasked him if he had ever tried bump-firing. I showed him how it was done and we proceeded to make noise. You can't hit anything, but it is a lot of fun.

We had just finished up and were headed for the house when TWO Trooper cars slid into my driveway. Out jumped FOUR Troopers and approached us.They all had their sidearms HOLSTERED. They asked what we were shooting and we told them. They had a good laugh and told us that someone had reported machine-gun fire. I laughed and said the person had obviously never heard a machine gun. We had lots of ammo and a good backstop. Remember those days? We all had a good laugh and they left.

In my estimation that's how GOOD cops should react to two honest citizens participating in LEGAL recreation.

Okay, I’ll bite... What is “bump-fire” and what did you use as your backstop inside your garage?

From Wikipedia...

Bump firing is the act of using the recoil of a semi-automatic firearm to fire multiple shots in rapid succession, which very crudely simulates the discharge of a fully automatic firearm. This process involves holding the foregrip with the non-trigger hand, releasing the grip on the firing hand (leaving the trigger finger in its normal position in front of the trigger), pushing the rifle forward in order to apply pressure on the trigger finger from the trigger, and keeping the trigger finger stationary. During a shot, the firearm will recoil considerably ("bump" back) and the trigger will reset itself; then the non-trigger hand would naturally force the firearm back to the original position, pressing the trigger against a stationary finger again, thereby firing successive shots.

Also, I didn't see anything in post 16 about a garage, although I'll admit my eyes aren't what they used to be, lol.

well, bump-firing is hard to explain, but easy to do. You hold the firearm loosely in your hand and lightly squeeze the trigger, The recoil will cause the gun to jump in your hand and when it rebounds your trigger finger will trip the trigger again and again, until you remove your finger or increase your grip on the gun.

As to my range, it is nowhere close to my garage. I don't know where that came from.

Thanks deo, I mostly bumpfire with a handgun, or I did before ammo got so scarce. I had forgotten about the rifle.

PS; I only wish my garage was big enough to house a range, it would be a lot warmer in winter.
